Question 7 - Looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learnt from the progression from it to the full product?

When I look back at my preliminary task and compare it to my final product I feel that I have made a lot of progress, not only in the way that my front cover looks but also in the sense that I have progressed in my use of skills when it comes to the production of the front cover. the first thing which I notice when looking back at my preliminary task is the lack of conventions which would normally be included in a professional magazine. A example of this is my use of including additional images of the exclusive interview as a lure for the audience, unlike in my preliminary task as it does not have any sort of lure or any offer of a exclusive. Another convention I have used on my front cover but not on my preliminary task is the use of different fonts making the front cover more eye catching, by making it more eye catching the customer is more likely to be engaged in the product making them want to buy it. the main down side to my preliminary task I feel is the use of colour this is because there is no specific colour pallet used instead it contains a mixture of dark and light colour not really giving the magazine any form of house style, where as my front cover contains a dark colour pallet with only black red and blue being used as colours.

I feel that one of my reasons for lack of success in my preliminary task is that or though I had some knowledge in photoshop I did not have as much knowledge in it as I do now which enabled me to make my front cover. however what I feel to be my main reason is that I had done no previous background research information into the way in which magazines are designed, so I had no previous information in mast heads, lures, hooks or house style.

If i had a chance to go back and start my task again i would have improved my photos which i used within my product this is because the ones i used i felt were diffictult to use within my magazine to fit in with my theme. I would have used a plain white background instead of using the action shots of them playing this is because i would have been able to make them fit more of the critera and suit a more simplistic theme. I would also have use web 2.0 more to my advantage making more blog posts with relevant links and also making more videos to show more advanced knowledge of the topic.
